Star Wars: The Old Republic is now free-to-play starting today, coming with a content update. All eight classes are available and the level cap for free players has been raised to fifty. Essentially the entire game is available to free players except for the Pay-to-use Cartel content.
“We want to give our players the freedom to enjoy Star Wars: The Old Republic when and how they want,” said Matthew Bromberg, the General Manager of BioWare Austin. “There has never been a better time to start playing with us.”
The content patch contains new areas, a companion, a few missions and more. Here are some highlights:
- A new mission on Belsavis which will add HK-51 as a companion.
- Section X of the prison world of Belsavis will be open for exploration.
- Operation: Explosive Conflict Mode on Denova, which when completed may grant the winning team the final pieces of the Dread Guard armor and a new mount.
