A long long time ago, in a galaxy far away (which would be today, if you factor in the time it takes for news to travel through light speed that far from our galaxy) there was a game announced to occupy their boredom time. Angry Birds!
For those thinking they’re in the wrong article, let me put your fears to rest. Just today, on their website, Rovio Games announced they are indeed working with Lucasfilms Ltd. and developing Angry Birds: Star Wars edition. The game will be available on iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle Fire, Mac, PC, Windows Phone and Windows 8, Angry Birds Star Wars will be ready for purchase on November 8th.
It seems the Red Bird was cast as Luke Skywalker, Hans Solo, considered by some to be the coveted position, fell to Chuck the Yellow Bird. Stella (the Pink bird) is Princess Leia, Terrence (the magenta Big Brother Bird) is Chewbacca, Bomb (the Black Bird) is Obi-Wan, and that’s just what one can tell from the wallpaper released by Rovio on their Tumblr.
With the fan base that Star Wars has, plus the popularity and addiction of Angry Birds, this is sure to be a hit. It has also mentioned by Rovio that the plush toys from Angry Birds and Angry Birds Space will be getting costumes to go with them this autumn, and even Halloween costumes for the little children who love the game. The costumes, for both birds and humans, will be available for Halloween this year as they are being released the 28th of October. It’s a refreshing take on the Star Wars franchise, and sure to be a memorable game.
